Early Pregnancy and Miscarriage
Support in Calgary
"Cultivate the soil before planting the seed."
A positive test can bring joy and fear in the same breath, especially if you've known loss before. Whether you're preparing to try again or newly pregnant and holding your breath through the first weeks, you deserve steady, compassionate care.
At TerraSana Health, Dr. Ashley Abbs supports women through recurrent pregnancy loss and early pregnancy. She works gently alongside your medical team to care for your body, your hormones and your heart.
A two-phase approach
Before conception: cultivating the soil
Chinese medicine looks for the underlying imbalances that may contribute to pregnancy loss. After a thorough assessment of your history and current health, Ashley creates a plan to support your body's return to balance before you try again. As a general guide, that means three to six months of weekly acupuncture, with Chinese herbal formulas added where helpful. Three months is about how long it takes for an egg to mature.
Once you're pregnant: the Maintaining Pregnancy Program
When you conceive, your care moves into the Maintaining Pregnancy Program. This includes weekly treatments and closer contact with Ashley until 12–14 weeks, to support you and your growing baby through the first trimester.
Support for women whose losses have been linked to:
Unknown Factors
Hormonal Imbalances
Blood Clotting disorders
Autoimmune disorders
Supposed Egg Quality deficiencies
Support through the first trimester
Acupuncture in early pregnancy can also help with:
Nausea and morning sickness
Fatigue and poor sleep
Anxiety, especially in pregnancy after loss or after IVF
Headaches, digestion and constipation
Ashley uses points chosen specifically for pregnancy and avoids those that aren't appropriate in the first trimester.
